Choosing the right Mattress?

Comfort is very subjective. Some people like to feel as though they are sinking into their bed whilst others prefer to lie on the surface. Because of this we don't give our beds a firmness rating like some manufacturers. We want bed-buyers to go into stores and give our beds a try - after all you are going to be spending up to 8 hours a night in your bed so there is no substitute to trying before you buy and selecting the right one for you. There are lots of different 'feels' around but with over 50 beds in our collection each made with a different fillings ranging from our Miracoil® Spring System to our exclusive new Miragel bed we are certain that we will have a bed that's comfortable and provides you with the right level of support.

Can I purchase a new mattress to use on an existing base?
As long as your base is in good condition then it should be suitable for use with all of our new mattresses. However, we do recommend that if you are replacing your mattress because of its age then you should also consider replacing the base at the same time.

What is the difference between a Miracoil® Spring System Mattress and a Pocket Spring Mattress?

The secret to a great night’s sleep is the unique Miracoil® Spring System - a continuous coil of wire made up into twice as many springs as a conventional system. The springs run head to toe ensuring body weight is distributed up and down the bed, giving you and your partner the support you need despite differences in size or weight.

Pocket Sprung mattresses feature rows of individual pocketed lightweight springs that move independently and mould to the shape of your body. Mattresses featuring pocket springs are available with a variety of different spring counts for different levels of comfort and support.

Silent Night Beds do not currently produce pocket spring products, but they are available to purchase from many of our other manufacturers eg:  - Rest Assured, Pocket Spring Bed Co, and Sealy.

How long are the beds guaranteed?
All our beds are rigorously tested under laboratory conditions to British Standards and carry a tiered 5-year guarantee.

What do the sizes 90cm, 135cm, 150cm & 180cm bed mean?
These sizes relate to the overall width of the bed or mattress. Below is a breakdown of the different sizes and their approximate imperial equivalents:

    * Single 90cm x 190cm - approx. 3’0” x 6’3”
    * Double 135cm x 190cm - approx. 4’6” x 6’3”
    * King Size 150cm x 200cm - approx. 5’0” x 6’7”
    * Super King Size 180cm x 200cm - approx. 6’0” x 6’7”

Are the beds flammability tested?
Yes. As part of the rigorous testing procedures, all www.mattress-sales.co.uk™ beds must pass the threshold for domestic flammability risk.

What should I expect from my new bed?

Chances are that the springs and upholstery in your current bed are not what they used to be, so your new bed may seem a little strange at first. Please allow time for your body to adjust and the mattress to settle and you will be sure to receive a great night’s sleep.

How should I care for my new Divan bed ?

In order to ensure that you receive the very best support, comfort and life from your new www.mattress-sales.co.uk bed, it is essential that you follow the care instructions as provided with the product. If you would like to view the care instructions please click here for further details.

What is an anti-slip base?

Silent Night Beds unique anti-slip base has been designed to work in perfect harmony with slatted beds. The latex rubber coating keeps the mattress firmly in place whilst the reinforced underside ensures that the mattress does not fall through the gaps. The bedstead mattresses are available in a variety of comfort levels and, as with every mattress, provide guaranteed support from the unique Miracoil® Spring System. For further details on the bedstead mattresses please click here.

Can I wash the Play Pals?

These covers must not be washed, colour may bleed, or shrinkage may occur due to natural fibres used. Recommend dry cleaning, or use a damp sponge only & clean with gentle rubbing only. Full details on how to care for your new bed will be supplied on delivery, but they can also be found here.

Is My First Bed™ suitable for all ages?
No. My First Bed™ is suitable for children aged 3+

Miratex™ Questions

I have purchased a rolled up mattress, can it be re-rolled?
The Miratex™ mattresses have been rolled using special machinery. Once the mattress has regained its original shape it will not be possible to re-roll it again.

How long should I leave a mattress after unrolling before it can be used?
Once you have unrolled your new mattress, please place on a bed in a warm room for 24 hours before use. After this time the mattress will fully regain its normal shape. Please note that recovery time will be faster when placed in a warm environment.

My Miratex™ mattress smells, is this normal?
Some residual foam odour may be apparent on removing your new foam mattress from its packaging. This is quite normal and not a cause for concern. Please give the mattress time to air by leaving it uncovered in a well ventilated room for several hours before use.

Miragel® Questions

Why does my new Miragel® topper seem to have shrunk?
Due to the physical properties of Miragel® you may find that when the topper is unrolled it has experienced a degree of shrinkage.

This is quite normal and if left flat for a few hours will expand back to its original shape.

Does Miragel® require any special handling?
To retain the full comfort and support offered by Miragel® please ensure when you turn or move the topper it is rolled and never bent or folded. Bending the topper will damage the fillings and will ultimately reduce the life of the product and invalidate the product guarantee.
